What is RHB Now Secure Plus feature?

RHB Now Secure Plus is an integrated feature that works as a mobile token to authorize high amount transfer/transaction of RM10,000.00 and above. Previously, the Bank introduces a dedicated application (App) to authorize such transaction – RHB Now Secure Plus App. The current version of the App can only authorize transactions via QR code scanning to generate Secure Plus OTP which need to be entered manually on the RHB Now Internet Banking.

With the new enhancement, the feature is now integrated with our RHB Now Mobile Banking App instead. Rather than having two applications to perform and authorize transaction, it is now being simplified by using the existing RHB Now Mobile Banking App. Furthermore, we have included the Secure Verification (Push Verification) feature that only requires authorization by a single tap on push message on registered smartphone. The QR Code authorization is still available for those who opt for Scan & Sign mode.

What is Secure Verification?

Secure Verification is a method whereby the Bank will seek customer’s authorization via push notification to their smartphones. Transaction details are displayed for customer to confirm and proceed with the authorization by a single tap.

What are the affected transactions that require RHB Now Secure Plus authorization?

For transaction amount of RM10,000.00 and above that requires RHB Now Secure Plus authorizations are:

  1. Transfer to other RHB Account
  2. Interbank GIRO (IBG)
  3. Instant Transfer
  4. Foreign Telegraphic Transfer
  5. Bill Payment
  6. JomPA
  7. Payment Gateway
  8. FPX

Do I need a RHB Now Secure Plus authorization for other transactions?

No, other than the above and transactions below RM10,000.00 does not require RHB Now Secure Plus authorization.

Do I need a RHB Now Secure Plus authorization for the affected transactions with transaction amount below RM10,000.00?

No, transactions below RM10,000.00 will not require RHB Now Secure Plus authorization.

How do I register and activate the RHB Now Secure Plus feature?

Follow the steps below to perform device registration and activation

For New User (new to RHB Now Secure Plus)

Step 1 Perform App update for RHB Now Mobile Banking App.  Ensure that the latest version (Version 2.1.8 for Android and Version 2.27 for iOS) is used.
Step 2 Logon to RHB Now Internet banking using a different device (preferably desktop PC or laptop) to register for RHB Now Secure Plus. Look for the menu Secure Plus and Select Registration & Activation.
Step 3

Register smartphone by entering smartphone favourite name and Identification Number. Click ‘Next’ to proceed.
For Sole Proprietor Account – Choose Registrar of Business as your ID Type.

For Sole Proprietor Account establish in Sabah/Sarawak – Choose Others as your ID type.
Step 4 Enter 6 digits OTP to proceed with the activation and click ‘Submit’.
Step 5 At RHB Now Secure Plus activation page, a colour QR code will appear on the screen.
Step 6 Launch the RHB Now Mobile Banking App and tap on Secure Plus feature on the main menu. Tap on ‘Secure Plus Activation’ to proceed with scanning.  No login is required.
Step 7 Authorize the App to access your camera if required.
Step 8 Place and hold smartphone to scan the displayed QR code.
Step 9

Upon successful scanning, create RHB Now Secure Plus PIN*.

*PIN must be in numeric form, ranging from 6 to 12 digits
Step 10 Re-enter PIN to confirm, and tap ‘OK’.
Step 11 For supported smartphones, a Touch ID feature is available as an alternative to Secure Plus App PIN. Note that Secure Plus PIN is still required to be created as a backup authentication.  The Touch ID feature will enable the creation of Secure Plus OTP without the need of entering Secure Plus PIN.
Step 12 At RHB Now Internet Banking registration screen, an acknowledgement screen will be displayed to confirm the completion of the registration and activation.


For Existing user (Existing RHB Now Secure Plus App user)

Step 1 Download the RHB Now Mobile Banking App from Google Play or App Store.
Step 2 Uninstall the standalone RHB Now Secure Plus application from smartphone.
Step 3

Logon to RHB Now Internet banking using a different device (preferably desktop PC or laptop) to register for RHB Now Secure Plus feature.
Look for Secure Plus menu. Perform Deactivation first to ensure that the token is removed from existing RHB Now Secure Plus App record.  Once deactivation has been done, proceed to perform device registration and activation.

Step 4

Register smartphone by entering smartphone favourite name and Identification Number. Click ‘Next’ to proceed.
For Sole Proprietor Account – Choose Registrar of Business as your ID Type.

For Sole Proprietor Account establish in Sabah/Sarawak – Choose Others as your ID type.

Why do I need to create a RHB Now Secure Plus PIN?

RHB Now Secure Plus PIN is required to authenticate and secure mobile token from being used by unauthorized person. Alternatively for supported smartphones, Touch ID feature can be enabled to generate Secure Plus OTP for Scan and Sign (QR Code scanning).

How does Touch ID works?

During registration, simply enable the feature by sliding the touch ID bar to activate the feature. Touch ID is only applicable for Scan & Sign (QR Code scanning) authorization. It replaces the Secure Plus PIN to generate 6 digit Secure Plus OTP. Touch ID only detects stored user’s fingerprint on their smart phones.

What will happen if I wrongly entered my RHB Now Secure Plus PIN for three(3) times?

Your RHB Now Secure Plus service will be automatically deactivated. Call our Customer Call Centre at 03-92068118 to reset the PIN.

Can I register more than one smartphone?

No, each customer is only allowed to register one smartphone at any one time.

How do I perform Secure Plus authorization for transaction of RM10,000 and above?

Follow the steps below for transaction authorization on RHB Now Internet Banking.

Step 1 Perform desired transaction (minimum of RM10,000 and above).
Step 2 Enter all the necessary details. Click the proceed button.
Step 3

At confirmation screen, scroll down to choose desired mode of authorization.

Secure Verification option is the default method and highly recommended. Choose Scan & Sign (QR Code scanning) to opt for offline authentication which can work even if the smartphone does not have any data connectivity.
Step 4

The following steps are for Secure Verification method:

  1. Ensure that you have at least login once to your RHB Now Mobile Banking App in order to receive Secure Verification (push notification). Please authorized the app to receive Push notification alert.
  2. Upon selecting Secure Verification method, click on Submit button to send a push notification message to registered smartphone.
  3. The RHB Now Internet Banking screen will refresh and display Secure Verification in progress. A 60 second time will start for user to complete the verification.
  4. Tap on the push notification that appears on top of the smartphone screen.
  5. Depending on phone type and setting, unlocking of smartphone is required to retrieve the message
  6. A transaction details screen will be displayed on the smartphone.
  7. Tap on ‘approve’ button to complete the authorization or tap on ‘cancel’ should you wish to cancel the transaction approval.
  8. Smartphone screen will be refreshed and display transaction is in progress. Note that the verification has been successfully performed.
  9. At RHB Now Internet Banking, upon successful processing, the acknowledgment screen will be displayed to confirm the transaction has been completed successfully.
Step 5

The following steps are for Scan & Sign method:

  1. Upon selection of Scan & Sign (QR Code scanning) method, a color QR code will be displayed together with the entry box for Secure Plus OTP at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Tap on the Secure Plus menu from the main screen of your RHB Now Mobile Banking App.
  3. Tap on ‘Scan and Sign’ button
  4. Scan the colour QR code.
  5. Upon successful scanning, details of transaction will appear on the screen.
  6. After verifying the transaction details, please enter RHB Now Secure Plus PIN before proceeding and click ‘Approve’. A 6 digits RHB Now Secure Plus OTP will be shown on the screen.

    Or

    If Touch ID has been enabled, the smartphone will request for Touch ID verification. Upon successful verification of your biometric, a 6 digit Secure Plus OTP will be shown on screen
  7. Enter the 6 digits RHB Now Secure Plus OTP in RHB Now Internet Banking screen to complete the transaction.


Follow the steps below for transaction authorization on RHB Now Mobile Banking App:

Step 1 Perform desired transaction (minimum of RM10,000 and above).
Step 2 Enter all the necessary details. Click on the proceed button.
Step 3

A transaction details screen will be displayed on smartphone (push notification immediately displayed).

Step 4

Tap on ‘approve’ button to complete the authorization or tap on ‘cancel’ should you wish to cancel the transaction approval.

Step 5

Screen will be refreshed and an acknowledgment screen will be displayed confirming the completion of the transaction.

Which smartphone model is supported?

Mobile phone that runs on iOS and Android Operating System are currently supported. Usage of the latest operating system is recommended.

Can I use modified operating system (rooted or Jailbreak) smartphone?

No, for security purpose you are not allowed to use modified operating system (rooted or Jailbreak) smartphone to perform RHB Now Secure Plus authentication.

If the camera on my smartphone is faulty, can I still scan the QR code?

No, if the smartphone camera is faulty, the QR code cannot be scanned.

If my smartphone does not have any internet connection, can I still scan and generate RHB Now Secure Plus OTP?

Yes, the QR code can be scanned and RHB Now Secure Plus OTP generated.

Can other QR code reader able to generate the RHB Now Secure Plus OTP?

No, the RHB Now Secure Plus OTP has been designed with the latest security and protection.

If I lost my smartphone or change my smartphone, what should I do?

For lost of smartphone, immediately perform device deactivation on RHB Now Internet Banking by selecting Secure Plus menu and Deactivation submenu.

For changing of smartphone, perform deactivation on the old smartphone by selecting Secure Plus Menu and tap on the Deactivate Secure Plus button. It is highly recommended to perform device ‘Disconnect’ by going to ‘Other Services’ menu, select ‘Device Management’ and tap on ‘Disconnect from this device’ option. Install RHB Now Mobile Banking App on your new smartphone. Re-do the device registration all over again.

If I scan the QR code and gets invalid QR Code message, what should I do?

This happens if the token information resides on the phone does not match the current record. You will need to perform token deactivation and perform the registration process again. Ensure that you have perform device deactivation on the smartphone as well by going to Secure Plus Menu and select device deregistration.

If I scan the QR code and manage to retrieve the Secure Plus OTP but when entered at RHB Now Internet Banking comes out as invalid Secure Plus OTP, what should I do?

If the Secure Plus OTP is invalid although scanning is successful, you may be using another token that is not registered with the user ID performed on the RHB Now Internet Banking. Ensure that you are using the correct smartphone registered with the user ID performed on the RHB Now Internet Banking.

If I don’t receive any Secure Verification, what should I do?

Please logon to your RHB Now Mobile Banking App at least once and approve the request for push notification upon first time login.

Alternatively, if you have performed first time login to your RHB Now Mobile Banking App and yet to receive the notification: click on Secure Plus menu > select Secure Verification to retrieve the message manually.

Why do I need to login to my RHB Now Mobile Banking App to receive Secure Verification?

During the process of first time login on your RHB Now Mobile Banking App, there will be a request to allow for Push Notification. This is to enable the Push Verification to be sent to your smartphone.

I have two smartphones installed with RHB Now Mobile Banking App. How do I change the receiving of the Secure Verification on my other smartphone?

Perform device deactivation on:

  1. RHB Now Internet Banking, and
  2. RHB Now Mobile Banking app in your using registered smartphone.
Only after performing device deactivation for your old smartphone, you will be able to register your new smartphone to receive Secure Verification. Ensure that you have perform ‘Disconnect from this device’ function via Other Services > Device Management on your old smartphone prior to activation on the new smartphone.

I received a push notification on my smartphone but turns out invalid, what could be the cause of it?

It is likely that the token no longer exist on the phone due to changing of smartphone for secure verification and the ‘Disconnect from this device’ has yet to be performed. Follow FAQ #18 steps to perform a clean switching of token from one device to another.

Does RHB Now HD App for iPad support this feature?

Currently the feature is not supported for RHB Now HD App. To perform transaction of RM10,000 and above, kindly use RHB Now Internet Banking or RHB Now Mobile Banking for smartphones.
