Restrictions for dining-in have been lifted and some of your favourite restaurants are welcoming diners once again. Travel to selected tourist hot-spots, although limited under certain conditions, will relieve your cabin fever. While you still need to comply to SOPs and be cautious, you get to eat out, travel, and help the economy bounce back. Sounds great, right?

All the businesses we’ve listed down here are part of RHB’s #JomSapot initiative to help local businesses, especially SMEs, get back on their feet and thrive. SMEs form the backbone of our economy. By supporting these businesses, you’re helping Malaysians keep their jobs while rebuilding the economy. In addition to spending money at these places, you can play your part by pledging your support to businesses of your choice. There are so many to choose from, from all sectors of the economy, including dining, hospitality, and services. Your pledge will be auto-posted on your chosen social media platform, so you can get your friends to join in the cause.

As an RHB Credit or Debit Card holder, there’s even more for you as you’ll get extra benefits like freebies and discounts when supporting local businesses.

Let’s dine out

Cooking at home during the lockdown was great…for a while. Sure, you tried out some new recipes and posted your epic fails on social media to the delight (and horror) of your friends, but after one too many burnt efforts all you want is a good meal in the real world and no dishes to clean up. Let’s make it a day for dining out and enjoying the little things we missed.

Start off with a good cup of coffee that you didn't make yourself. While you're at it, why not satisfy your sweet tooth? Encore, in Taman Bukit Desa, is inspired by the French-Austrian passion for artisanal baked goods, serving pastries and cakes that go perfectly with their house blend coffee. Encore is open for dine-in for vaccinated individuals, with limited capacity.

After a hearty breakfast, you can walk off the calories and work up an appetite for lunch at your local park. Taman Dusun Bandar, in Seputeh, offers a peaceful respite and is a great place for kids to roam after months at home while learning how kampung fruits are cultivated. The park’s centrepiece is a narrow man-made lake, which adds an interesting touch to the orchard-like feel of the surroundings, set against the backdrop of KL’s towering skyscrapers. You can pack a light lunch and have a picnic together. Be sure to keep your social distancing, and wear a mask if you are in the vicinity of others.

For dinner, head over to one of #JomSapot’s many participating merchants to satisfy your hunger while helping your fellow Malaysians. Whether you’ve got a craving for a hearty burger from Burger on 16’s, a family-friendly steamboat treat at Johnny’s Restaurants, or you’d like to jazz things up with a fancy dinner at Black Market, make the most of your dining experience knowing that your ringgit will go a long way. Check out our website for the full list of participating merchants to find one nearest to you.

Dinner, then a movie

Finally, cinemas are open again and we can catch the latest blockbusters. GSC is back! To complete your day out after a filling dinner, catch a movie with your family and friends.

A luxurious getaway

Once you’ve had your day out, later on you might consider leaving the hustle and bustle of the city altogether for some much-needed rest and recreation. For those of us working from home, well, the company never specified where a home has to be. As long as there is wi-fi…

The jewel of Kedah, Langkawi, is the perfect getaway. Langkawi has something for everyone: white sandy beaches, quaint villages, great food, and even outdoor activities like hiking.

For a luxurious treat, book a stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi. Set within a 10 million-year-old rainforest on the edge of the clear blue Andaman Sea, the resort ushers travelers into a pocket of the world where luxury and nature blend together. Lounge in the sun by the family pool, then have your meals at The Beach Grill while enjoying the cool sea breeze.

While you’re out in the world and interacting with others, remember to play your part in keeping the pandemic at bay by following SOPs. And although it isn’t mandatory, it’s best to self-test before traveling. Travel responsibly, stay safe, and sapot local businesses!
