Green Mosque: Promoting Sustainability

RHB Islamic collaborates with Malaysian Green Technology And Climate Change Corporation (“MGTC”) to support green initiatives in mosques, focusing on Solar PV, rainwater harvesting, self-water treatment, and used cooking oil collection.

In line with Kementerian Alam Sekitar dan Air Malaysia ( “KASA”)’s goals to promote green initiatives at places of worship, RHB Islamic partners with MGTC under the Masjid Hijau initiative. This initiative introduces green technologies to mosques, aiming to reduce carbon footprints from electricity and water usage. Key efforts include Solar PV systems, rainwater harvesting, self-water treatment, and collecting used cooking oil from the community.

RM100,000 powers Perlis’ first solar mosque

Masjid Al Ghufran in Kangar became Perlis’ first solar mosque in 2021, thanks to RHB Islamic’s Zakat-funded solar PV installation.

RM12,600 annual savings at Masjid Al-Hasanah

A 22.75 kWp solar system in Bangi, funded with RM75,000, generates 24,700 kWh yearly and cuts utility costs by RM12,600.

RM150,000 expands solar energy to two states

In 2023, RHB Islamic extended its solar initiative to mosques in Pahang and Melaka, investing RM150,000 in sustainable energy.
