RHB Banking Group is a fully integrated financial services group in Malaysia. The Group’s core businesses are structured into five business pillars, namely Group Community Banking, Group Wholesale Banking, Group Shariah Business, Group International Business and Group Insurance.



Group Community Banking (“GCB”) provides conventional and Shariah-compliant consumer banking solutions and SME banking.

Our retail products and services include Wealth Management, Bancassurance, Mortgages, Auto Financing, ASB Financing, Personal Financing, Credit Cards, Payments and Deposits, which are offered through our branches and our digital platforms.

We provide financing solutions to Small and Medium Enterprises (“SMEs”) and family-owned enterprises, as well as trade and cash management solutions for SMEs

We have also introduced our enhanced SME e-Solutions, making RHB the first Malaysian bank to offer direct API connectivity with third-party business solutions provider for seamless user experiences. As a key component of our SME Ecosystem, SME e-Solutions provides our SME customers with value-added features – all on a single platform. By collaborating with cloud-based technology partners, we now offer solutions including point-of sale terminals, payroll and accounting and cash management solutions.

Group Wholesale Banking will comprise the following key business portfolios/functional group: Group Investment Banking; Group Corporate Banking; Group Treasury & Global Markets; Group Asset Management; Commercial Banking; Transaction Banking; and Economics.

Group Investment Banking RHB Investment Bank is one of the leading capital market players in Malaysia. Supported by an award-winning research team of experienced product specialists, Group Investment Banking offers a full range of investment banking products and services covering primary markets, such as advisory (corporate & debt restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, takeovers), fundraising via both equity and debt instruments, and secondary markets including securities trading for both institutional and retail clients. The team leverages on the Group’s regional platforms to provide cross-border transactional services to clients across ASEAN.

Group Corporate Banking Group Corporate Banking provides a comprehensive suite of conventional and Shariah-compliant financing solutions to corporate clients whose shares are listed on stock exchanges locally and/ or abroad, multinational companies, the government and government agencies and government-linked companies. Financial solutions provided include working capital funding, trade financing, foreign currency hedging, project financing and syndication, as well as funding of corporate exercises. Our reach extends across Southeast Asia to support our clients’ growth regionally. Optimising our regional presence, we selectively seize opportunities to grow in countries such as Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand or partner with our clients in countries where they have a presence.

Group Treasury and Global Markets Group Treasury and Global Markets (“GTGM”) offers a comprehensive suite of treasury products and solutions including foreign exchange (“FX”), derivatives, capital markets, structured products, money market investments and Islamic Treasury products catering to the hedging and investment needs of our diverse customers in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. We are also responsible for the overall management of the liquidity and funding needs of the Group as well as for investing excess capital and funds to enhance the returns for the Group.

Group Asset Management The Asset Management pillar manages a full set of investment services and offerings including management of unit trust funds, investment management advisory, private mandates, product development and trustee services.

Commercial Banking Commercial Banking offers a wide range of business solutions ranging from financing, deposits, cash management solutions, trade finance, FX and remittance among others for Commercial customers (Mid-size to Large-Size Private Companies)

Transaction Banking Transaction Banking offers a wide range of business solutions ranging from cash management solutions, trade finance and services including supply chain financing solutions among others for SME, Commercial & Large corporates.

Economics The Group’s Economic and Market research team, which also includes Foreign Exchange and Fixed Income Strategy, provides expert advice on Macroeconomic developments as well as local economic and sectoral trends. The team is also responsible for engaging with our corporate and institutional clients to provide advice on economic developments and trends.

RHB Islamic Bank is the Group’s Islamic Banking arm, providing Shariah-compliant banking and financial services through four business units which are Retail Banking, Corporate & Investment Banking, Business & Transaction Banking and Islamic Treasury. It continues to be among the preferred financial institutions for SMEs by meeting ever-changing demands and adding value throughout the SME supply chain with our innovative financial supply chain products.

RHB Insurance provides general insurance for retail, SME, commercial and corporate customers. It is the 12th largest insurer in Malaysia and ranks among the Top 10 insurers for Fire.

Group International Business comprises both our commercial banking and investment banking portfolios overseas. We have a strong presence through an established network of branches across Singapore, Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Brunei, Indonesia and Vietnam. Please be informed that effective 9th April 2022, our representative office in Myanmar has ceased operations. To better serve our clients in Singapore, Cambodia and Thailand where we have presence in both commercial banking and investment banking, we have integrated the management of the businesses as a “one country model” focused on optimising synergies. In single business countries, i.e. commercial banking in Laos and Brunei, and investment banking in Indonesia and Vietnam, we continue to focus on growing profitably in targeted segments.

Establishment of United Malayan Banking Corporation Berhad (UMBC).
1960
Officially declared open by Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj. It is the first commercial bank to be established in independent Malaya.
1996
UMBC becomes part of Sime Darby Berhad and is renamed Sime Bank Berhad.
1999
Merges with RHB Bank Berhad and becomes part of the RHB Banking Group.

1997
Merger of Kwong Yik Bank Berhad and DCB Bank Berhad to form RHB Bank, then Malaysia’s third largest financial services group.
1999
Merger of Sime Bank Berhad and RHB Bank Berhad to form the RHB Banking Group.
2003
Merger of RHB Bank Berhad with Bank Utama Berhad into the RHB Banking Group.
2005
RHB Banking Group received a license for its Islamic Banking arm - RHB Islamic Bank Berhad.
2009
Inception of Easy by RHB, the first innovative community bank in Asia that offers fast and simple banking experience through cutting-edge technology.
2012
RHB Capital acquired OSK Investment Bank, paving the way for the RHB Banking Group’s strong presence in ASEAN and Hong Kong.
2013
RHB Banking Group celebrates RHB Bank's 100th Anniversary.
2016
RHB Bank Berhad assumes the listing status of RHB Capital Berhad as the financial holding company.
